Prospects of HDMI 2.2 debuting at CES 2025 are looking good

HDMI

Higher bandwidths and improved resolutions are on the horizon for everything from 4K to even 8K displays, making everything from watching the latest movies to playing the hottest cutting-edge games look better than ever.

The HDMI Licensing Administrator has hinted at a major announcement coming to the annual Las Vegas CES event in January 2025, expected to be a new standard, likely named HDMI 2.2, a step up from the most current cable designation, HDMI 2.1b. While no specs have as yet been 100% confirmed, it’s easy to expect that the new cables will be a considerable upgrade in the realm of handling higher resolutions, refresh rates, and improved transmission quality across the board.

Considering this possible upgrade coincides with major announcements from both NVIDIA and AMD at the same event regarding their next gen graphics cards, the odds are good. Just a few more weeks until all is revealed.
